I was very ambitious last year. I created not one but two Make Nines! One for knitting, the other for sewing – and I introduced both in this post. However, I didn’t finish (nor started) any project from my sewing Make Nine, as I didn’t sew much at all, but I managed to knit 5 out of 9 planned projects! In total, I knitted 35 projects in 2023. So how things went with #MakeNine2023?
Boom of cropped (and oversized) sweaters
I wanted to knit a sweater that would be really oversized. And I also wanted to knit a cropped sweater to wear with dresses or skirts. Well, I kind of mixed these together, as I bought high-rise jeans and needed some cropped sweaters to wear also with them. I love the Dad’s Sweater by Emily Curtis the most. I knitted one in bright yellow Gilliatt in De Rerum Natura, one as a Weasley Sweater, and I’ve been knitting the third one as my Christmas cast-on.
I also finished a Yggdrasil Sweater by Anna Sjösvard, which I wear with dresses and skirts but not that much with trousers. And there is one more, a Lyon Sweater by Petite Knit, that I wear maybe even the most, but I still don’t have any photos.
Huge grey shawl
I knitted exactly the huge grey shawl I wanted. It really is the biggest shawl I have and I wear it when it’s cold cold. The pattern is called Stairway and was designed by Susanne Sommer. She’s an Austrian designer, and I cast on the shawl when I moved to Austria for my 5-month internship! However, again, I don’t have any photos of the finished shawl.
Eight pairs of socks
Seven pairs of normal-height socks and one pair of ankle socks. And three of them were gifts (for my sister-in-law and my mum). I am not ending with socks for sure, as I am joining a Super Sock KAL 2024 organised by Štěpánka Drchalová!
And the rest?
I didn’t knit four planned things – something from Tussah Tweed yarn, a t-shirt, a long cardigan, and a mohair sweater. Well, I don’t want two of them anymore, but I am moving the other two, slightly changed, to my #MakeNine2024!
