Terranean refers to planet Earth, as I am a geographer. It also includes Tera, a diminutive of my name. And I am a knitter and sewer. That's what Terranean Stitch means.

I have a dark past when it comes to Make Nines. The usual Make Nine Challenge with specific patterns had never really worked for me, so I changed it a bit the last year. It included rather general wishes than more specifics, and I managed to knit 5/9 of them. To tell the truth, I have not been so committed that I would often look at the pictures when deciding what to knit next. I just like to compare what I wanted with what I want a year later. And this year, my Make Nine will be very similar! I also put together the sewing and knitting plans, as I haven’t been sewing much lately, so making one Make Nine just for sewing doesn’t make sense. My #MakeNine2024 also includes two things from last year that I didn’t knit but still want. See below for a brief description of each of the “wishes”.

I was very ambitious last year. I created not one but two Make Nines! One for knitting, the other for sewing – and I introduced both in this post. However, I didn’t finish (nor started) any project from my sewing Make Nine, as I didn’t sew much at all, but I managed to knit 5 out of 9 planned projects! In total, I knitted 35 projects in 2023. So how things went with #MakeNine2023?

I usually am a huge planner and organiser. That’s why I love Ravelry! However, the usual Make Nine Challenge with specific patterns hasn’t worked for me in the past because I change my mind throughout the year and don’t want to knit the chosen patterns anymore. That’s why I decided for a bit of change (what a shock! I usually hate changes!). My Make Nines now include mainly a general wish such as “more knitted socks” or “sew something in corduroy”. This way, my Make Nines will hopefully guide me and remind me of what I need or want in my wardrobe. And another change is that I prepared a Make Nine list not only for knitting, as in the previous years, but also for sewing, as I sew more and more frequently. So it’s more like #MakeEighteen2023, actually! So what am I planning for 2023?
